From an aspiring plastic surgeon to meteorologist to pharmaceutical sales representative, my path has been anything but clear-cut.
You might be wondering how one person could find any similarities in those three fields. Well, two colleges and sixteen semesters later has built quite the story.
Freshmen year I began college at Widener University. I majored in biology, coincidentally joined the biology club, and raised awareness to ways everyone can better the Earth's biome by tabling outside of the student union.
Sophomore year is where things got exciting. As Recruitment Chairmen for my fraternity I restructured the rush process and increased the chapter size by 40%. Concurrently, I conducted research on over 30 Lepidoptera (common name: butterflies/moths) that was presented in front of a panel of 400 students and faculty.
Cue the quarter life crisis. I just finished my second year of college but felt like I was missing something. Maybe it was the fact that I was halfway through college. Maybe it was that I felt trapped at a school of 3,000 students. So, what did I do? I transferred to the University of Central Florida. The second largest school in America, 1,000 miles away from my home in New Jersey.
Junior year I was a campus representative for the company Serengetee. I conducted marketing campaigns via social media outlets and word of mouth on campus increasing company revenue and mission statement awareness, and ultimately created a new t-shirt design promoting the Children's Miracle Network.
Senior year I began interning for National Staffing Solutions as a Recruitment Consultant. Essentially, I am a headhunter for healthcare professionals that conducts cold calls with various screening questions, and increases the company's database of potential cliental.
In my final semester I developed a product idea that will aid in the loss of common misplaced objects. It will be customizable, user-friendly, and GPS trackable so long as you have internet connection. Along with my group, we created a commercial, website, and SEO marketing tactics.
Definitely hasn't been the typical college ride but I wouldn't have wanted it to be. My dual interest in both the sciences and sales has lead me to where I am at this moment. If everything goes as planned, I will land a position in the medical sales industry and continue to advance my skills and expertise.
You're still reading, I must be doing something right.
